GRATTON COULEE ENGINES ARE QUALITY TESTED
AND INSPECTED FOR MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE.
WE HAVE 100+ DIESEL ENGINES READY TO SHIP AT ALL TIMES.
OUR ENGINES ARE USUALLY REMOVED AT THE SAME
TIME WE ARE PARTING OUT THE TRACTOR OR COMBINE.
ENGINES IN RUNNING UNITS ARE DYNO'D BEFORE THEY
ARE REMOVED. IF THE UNIT HAS, FOR EXAMPLE, A CAB
FIRE, THEN THE ENGINE IS REMOVED AND INSTALLED ON
AN ENGINE STAND. THE MECHANIC WILL THEN PERFORM
A NUMBER OF TESTS TO DETERMINE THE OVERALL CONDITION.
IF THE RESULTS ARE UP TO GRATTON COULEE SPECIFICATIONS
THE PAN IS REMOVED TO CHECK THE OIL PUMP, AND IN
ALMOST ALL INSTANCES REPLACE THE BEARINGS, ROD BOLTS,
AND SEALS.
MANY MECHANICS HAVE THE FALSE SENSE THAT
TO DYNO AN ENGINE WILL TELL ALL.
THE QUOTE FROM MOST OF OUR CUSTOMERS ON DIESEL ENGINES IS:
"I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT SPUN A BEARING. IT
HAD GOOD OIL PRESSURE AND USED LITTLE TO NO OIL."
ALTHOUGH TO DYNO AN ENGINE IS A VERY GOOD IDEA, IT IS FAR FROM THE
FINAL STEP BECAUSE IT WILL NOT INDICATE THE CONDITION OF THE BOTTOM
END BEARINGS WHICH IS THE MOST COMMON REASON
FOR REPLACING THE ENGINE.
